Insurance and Payment

Understanding the cost of therapy is an important part of getting started. At Frog Point Therapy, we want the financial side of therapy to be as clear and straightforward as possible.
Our therapists may be considered out-of-network providers depending on your insurance plan. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for a portion of the cost of your therapy sessions.

Use Mentaya to Check Your Out-of-Network Benefits

We have partnered with Mentaya to help clients understand and use their out-of-network mental health benefits. Mentaya’s insurance benefits tool can provide an estimate of whether your insurance plan may reimburse you for a portion of your therapy expenses and what your potential out-of-pocket costs could be.

The estimate provided by Mentaya is preliminary. Actual reimbursement depends on your specific insurance plan and is ultimately determined by your insurance company. We recommend confirming your benefits directly with your insurance provider before beginning treatment.

How Does Out-of-Network Reimbursement Work?

A typical process may look like this:

  1. Check your benefits – Use Mentaya or contact your insurance company to determine whether your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits.
  2. Attend your therapy sessions – You pay Frog Point Therapy directly for your sessions according to the therapist’s fee.
  3. Receive documentation – Your therapist or our office can provide the documentation needed to submit an out-of-network claim, such as a superbill, when applicable.
  4. Submit your claim – You or Mentaya submit the claim to your insurance company.
  5. Receive reimbursement

If your plan provides out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you according to the terms of your policy.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

Before beginning therapy, we recommend contacting your insurance provider and asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible?
  • How much of my deductible have I already met?
  • What percentage of therapy costs is reimbursed after my deductible?
  • Is there a maximum allowed amount per session?
  • Does my plan require a diagnosis for reimbursement?
  • Do I need prior authorization?
  • How do I submit an out-of-network claim?
  • Are there annual limits on mental health benefits?
