Krystin Harper, licensed couples and family therapist at Frog Point Therapy in Salt Lake City

Hello! I'm KRYSTIN HARPER

I'm an associate at Frog Point Therapy

Meet KRYSTIN

Together, with compassion, warmth, and curiosity, Krystin is here to help you sort through the messiness of life. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the George Washington University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, D.C. Many of her clients are individuals or couples navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, health concerns, or life transitions. Krystin specializes in women’s health and has nearly a decade of experience supporting women with breast cancer. She also has a special interest in working with couples that are navigating infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and learning to balance their relationship with the demands of parenthood.

Krystin believes that self-compassion is critical to our ability to change. When working with individuals, this begins with exploring your own story – what brought you to this point, how you see yourself in the world, and the thoughts that create your internal narrative. This narrative can sometimes be riddled with self-criticism and can immobilize even the most motivated among us. Krystin works to shift that voice towards compassion and empathy, challenging it with new perspectives and encouraging a willingness to offer oneself the same kindness that one would give an old friend. From there, that internal narrative tends to soften, the noise quiets, and there is room to take meaningful steps towards the life you want to be living. This compassion is especially impactful in women’s health, in which critical messaging and unrealistic societal expectations are endless. Adding on the pressure that often accompanies pregnancy, postpartum, and becoming a new parent, it can be easy to feel underwater. You are not alone and Krystin has both the lived experience and professional experience to support you through this journey.

Krystin brings that same warmth to her work with couples, many of whom are navigating defensiveness, resentment, anxiety, and the “mental load”, to name a few. Couples that Krystin works with may also be riding the waves of early parenthood, finding themselves a bit lost within this exciting and sometimes overwhelming chapter of life that often brings a new identity, changed expectations, constant transition, and a lack of control (and sleep!). With a compassionate and intentional approach, Krystin walks with you through the most difficult moments, explores the subtext to better understand what is being heard versus what is being said, and brings light to long-standing triggers that are impacting the relationship. With this foundation, Krystin works with couples to co-create specific language that fosters a communication style rooted in safety and compassion, allowing them room to breathe and see each other’s vulnerability with empathy and understanding. Living life in partnership with someone is not always easy and it is ok to need support along the way.

Krystin believes that a trusting therapeutic relationship is also essential for growth and she strives to help you find comfort in being your authentic self and the “you” that you want to be. Her work is rooted in a holistic, person-centered approach to healing. She also incorporates aspects of narrative therapy, CBT, and mindfulness. She will treat you with empathy, create a non-judgmental environment in which you can feel safe and heard, and bring in some humor along the way as well. If you are interested in a 15-minute consultation, please do not hesitate to reach out.
