Josh is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Washington, D.C. He earned his masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville University. Josh works primarily with adults navigating the following issues:
Josh recognizes that emotions can be difficult to understand and even harder to navigate when they feel intense or overwhelming. Emotions sometimes can come out as anger, shutting down, overthinking or pulling away, especially when they are hard to make sense of. He works with clients to better understand their emotional patterns, develop greater awareness of what’s happening beneath the surface, and build healthier ways of responding when emotions feel difficult to manage.
Josh takes a collaborative approach in the counseling room, recognizing that clients are the experts of their own stories and experiences. He works alongside each client to better understand what they have been through, what they are experiencing now, and what they hope to work towards. His approach draws from several therapeutic approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Josh believes the therapeutic relationship is just as important as the interventions used in therapy. Building a genuine relationship where the client feels comfortable being open, challenged, and understood is an important part of the work. If you’re considering therapy and want to see if working together feels like a good fit, Josh offers a free 15-minute consultation call to answer questions and talk about what you are looking for.
