The intersection of type and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) offers vast potential for improving outcomes in counseling and human development. A description of type-informed EMDR and a case study will be presented to illustrate the power of integrating this evidence-based treatment with Jung’s theory.

Association for Psychological Type International 2022 Winter Conference
Join Dr. Barimany and the Association for Psychological Type International for a deep dive into the empirical research from 2017 and 2020 on the mental functions that changed the way we think about personality development across the lifetime. In this presentation, Dr. Barimany will discuss the significant findings of her research on personality development and their implications for priming and catalyzing human growth. She will also present a basic framework for using psychological type—in conjunction with other established modalities such as cognitive behavior therapy and psychoanalysis—as a formal psychotherapeutic approach for practitioners of all kinds.

In this presentation on her most significant research findings to date, Dr. Barimany will present a high-level overview of the 2016 and 2020 studies on the Jungian hierarchy of preferences. Following an explanation of the major findings and their significance, Dr. Barimany will use a case study from her clinical practice to demonstrate how the findings can be practically applied. This presentation is geared towards showing mental health clinicians, organizational and life coaches, academics and researchers, and counselor educators how psychological type can enhance the efficacy of their work. This conference is hosted by the French Association for Psychological Type and is free to all.

Type Centenary Symposium – Bridging the Gap with Academia

The year 2021 marks the centenary of the original German edition of C.G. Jung’s book Psychological Types, a unique time to reflect on 100 years of type and mainstream psychology traveling down mostly different paths. Join us for this online symposium series, with presentations from eminent thinkers and scholars in the field. The symposium aims to define more clearly what psychological type is about, and how it can be supported in terms of the wider psychology literature, drawing from areas such as cognitive psychology, trait psychology, and neuroscience.
Dr. Barimany’s presentation for the British Association for Psychological Type Centenary Symposium weaves empirical research and professional practice to demonstrate how ‘either/or’ perspectives on type can be transcended. Integrating type with basic knowledge about human development and traditional psychotherapy offers a powerful approach to improve quality of life and diffuse much of the charge around conventional objections to psychological type.

Junior Associate Program
The Junior Associate program is a post-master’s training experience geared towards graduates looking for specialized supervision and mentorship in the Frog Point approach and in private practice. The work of learning how to do therapy truly begins after graduation, however much of the technical training ends when school ends. The goal of this program is to offer specialized, post-graduate training in FPT’s novel approach to treatment and to provide educational, clinical, and supervisory support to pre-licensure therapists as they navigate the transition out of academia and into professional clinical work. During their residency, each junior associate will receive formal training in Integral Counseling Theory, individual and group supervision from Dr. Barimany, client referrals, prime office space in FPT’s brand-new facility in Northwest DC, and the support of a professional community at Frog Point Therapy.

Frog Point Therapy offers clinical supervision for those working towards licensure or in need of ongoing professional support. Clinical supervision at FPT is provided by Mina Barimany, Ph.D. Multiple years of training in clinical supervision and counselor education augments Dr. Barimany’s love for supervision and dedication to training competent, intentional, and enlightened mental health therapists.

Junior Associate Program
The Junior Associate program is a post-master’s training experience geared towards graduates looking for specialized supervision and mentorship in starting their own private practice. The goal of the program is to prepare professionals for launch into the private practice world and hang their own shingle. During this post-graduate training experience, each junior associate will receive individual and group supervision from Dr. Barimany, tutelage on how to brand himself or herself, mentorship in establishing a private practice, client referrals, prime office space in FPT’s brand-new facility in Northwest DC, and the support of a professional community at Frog Point Therapy. At the end of the training experience, junior associates will be prepared to launch their own practice if they choose to do so or continue to practice with Frog Point Therapy as an Associate.
